‘Perpetuation’ Available Now

As you can probably see on the right there, the album is now officially released.

Some of our fans found a hidden purchase link and started buying copies early, so we figured, what the Hell, no point holding back!

So here it is, Perpetuation. A lot of blood and work and sacrifice went into this record, so we hope you like it.
You can grab it on Bandcamp at, as well as on iTunes and a bunch of other places.

It might also be fair to note that so far it has been reviewed by 13 press sources, and all the reactions were positive!

Thanks for your ongoing support, and see you soon in the pit!

Jordan Perry Posts Performance Video For ‘Perpetuation’

Jordan Perry, drummer for Montreal technical death metal band Derelict, has posted a new performance video for the song ‘Perpetuation’, here :

“This is one of our shortest songs to date, but it’s the one I’m the most proud of as far as the drum parts go,” says Perry. “I wanted to maintain an unrelenting feel, but add elements I hadn’t used previously.”

‘Perpetuation’ is currently available as a free track download via Derelict’s Bandcamp page, here:

Perry also has instructional videos explaining how to perform his heel toe kick drum technique, his take on blast beats, and his warmup routine, on the band’s youtube channel:

Promo EP Available On Bandcamp, Includes Free Download of ‘Perpetuation’

Montreal tech death shredders Derelict have just put their self-titled 2011 Promo EP up for sale on their Bandcamp page for $1.99, which includes the opening track, Perpetuation, as a free download.

“We originally intended this EP to simply be a promotional lead-up to the next album, but our fans have been asking us to make the tracks available,” comments vocalist Eric Burnet. “They were produced at full album quality, so we figured, why not! In this day and age bands can’t afford to hold music back for no reason, and if people want to have it, we’re more than happy to deliver it.”

The EP features three songs that will be on the band’s next full-length, due out in late 2011. Similarly to on their 2009 release ‘Unspoken Words’, tracking duties were shared by Burnet and Montreal engineer Kevin Frenette (, with mixing and mastering completed by Chris Donaldson (Beneath The Massacre, The Agonist, etc). Bass duties were provided courtesy of Swiss fretless guru Seb Pittet (Augury). More of his work can be heard at

Over the next few months, Derelict will be putting the finishing touches on their next full-length, playing select shows around Quebec and Ontario, and looking at expanding their reach to the US and Europe.

Derelict’s 2009 release ‘Unspoken Words’ is available in stores across Canada through Year Of The Sun Records, in the US and online through Relapse Records, as well as on iTunes.

Hailing from Montreal, Derelict mixes the brutal and technical elements of the Quebec metal scene with listenable structures and melody, resulting in an unforgiving yet accessible package. The band’s trademark sound has led to comparisons with the likes of Death, Strapping Young Lad, Obscura and The Black Dahlia Murder.

In 2009, the release of the Unspoken Words album through Year of the Sun Records marked a kickoff point for Derelict with several national tours, increased media exposure, and greater critical acclaim. The band’s 2012 followup release, Perpetuation was once again mixed and mastered by Chris Donaldson of Cryptopsy and contains 12 furious tracks that showcase an upgraded version of what Derelict fans have come to love. This new crushing-yet-memorable opus led the band to be nominated for “Metal Artist Of The Year” at the 2013 Canadian Independent Music Awards alongside Devin Townsend and Bison BC, as well as to secure international distribution through Maple Metal Records.

“This album was long in the making, and saw the band through some intense challenges,” says vocalist Eric Burnet. “We survived our trials and came back much stronger. Perpetuation is streamlined Derelict: it has fast tempos and brutal riffs, but lots of melody and catchiness too. We all pushed ourselves to expand what we could do with our instruments, and we got Sébastien Pittet (ex-Augury) playing fretless bass on it too!”

With the help of constant touring within Canada, and support for international acts such as Decapitated, Cryptopsy, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Decrepit Birth, Job For A Cowboy, Whitechapel, The Agonist, Revocation and Threat Signal, the band continues to spread its socio-political message of self-empowerment, freedom and peace to a mass of receptive fans.
